But while the Eighties&#8217; renaissance carried with it too much of that decade\u2019s baggage to survive for very long into the next one, Art Deco&#8217;s latest comeback brings a conscious restraint to the proceedings. <\/p>\n<p>Art Deco can be heavy, monumental, sometimes overwhelming, and hotels have learned that it\u2019s better to use it sparingly, marrying the look with other trends. Instead of trying to recreate the style at its bold Roaring Twenties peak, they&#8217;ve trained a spotlight on Art Deco&#8217;s quieter, more delicate sensibilities.<\/p>\n<p>The hotels below are fine examples of that dynamic at work, each to their own extent. <\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double #ccc;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:60px;display:block;clear:both\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Singer Palace Hotel<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Rome, Italy<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tablethotels.com\/en\/rome-hotels\/singer-palace-hotel\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.tablethotels.com\/media\/ecs\/global\/magazine\/story-images\/041319\/SingerPalace.jpg\" alt=\"Singer Palace Hotel - boutique hotel in Rome\" width=\"970\" height=\"auto\" border=\"0\" data-gae=\"Magazine, Clicked, Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For shopaholics, the heart of Rome is the Via del Corso, with its boutiques and luxury-brand flagships. It all starts with the postmodern whimsy of the lobby and public spaces, while the rooms playfully incorporate a touch of Art Deco and some contemporary graphic elements. The building&#8217;s old office space has been reshaped into 89 guest rooms and a handful of caf\u00e9s and lounges, including a striking indoor-outdoor bar on the 13th floor. But today\u2019s Culver City is suddenly hip, with great restaurants and nightlife as well as plentiful lifestyle and apparel shopping. And now it\u2019s joined by an outpost of the local hip hoteliers Palihotel, who\u2019ve adapted the 1920s-vintage West End Hotel into the modern-classic (and still Art Deco\u2013influenced) Palihotel Culver City.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\t<a id=\"thb-button-69eb9d0b3e6be\" class=\"button medium   black\" href=\"\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double #ccc;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:60px;display:block;clear:both\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">The Excelsior<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Yangon, Myanmar<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tablethotels.com\/en\/yangon-hotels\/yangon-excelsior\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.tablethotels.com\/media\/ecs\/global\/magazine\/story-images\/041319\/Excelsior.jpg\" alt=\"The Excelsior - boutique hotel in Yangon\" width=\"970\" height=\"auto\" border=\"0\" data-gae=\"Magazine, Clicked, Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yangon Excelsior was the colonial-era headquarters of a Scottish-owned firm with interests in rice, wood, and oil exporting. And after a quarter-century of disuse, during which time it became a canvas for a burgeoning Parisian street-art scene, it\u2019s found a second life as an Art Deco\u2013influenced bathing complex \u2014 but this time around it\u2019s also a luxury hotel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\t<a id=\"thb-button-69eb9d0b3e6e2\" class=\"button medium   black\" href=\"\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double #ccc;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:60px;display:block;clear:both\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Kimpton Cardinal Hotel<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Winston-Salem, North Carolina<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tablethotels.com\/en\/winston-salem-hotels\/the-kimpton-cardinal-hotel\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.tablethotels.com\/media\/ecs\/global\/magazine\/story-images\/041319\/KimptonCardinal.jpg\" alt=\"Kimpton Cardinal Hotel - boutique hotel in Winston-Salem\" width=\"970\" height=\"515\" border=\"0\" data-gae=\"Magazine, Clicked, Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Who knew the old R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company headquarters in Winston-Salem, North Carolina was the original inspiration for the Empire State Building? A hotelier could hardly ask for a more architecturally distinguished starting point than this 1929 Art Deco skyscraper. Kimpton, true to form, adapts their accessible, light-hearted boutique-hotel style to its surroundings, and the result is a delightful throwback to an era that\u2019s frankly more fantasy than reality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\t<a id=\"thb-button-69eb9d0b3e6f2\" class=\"button medium   black\" href=\"\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double #ccc;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:60px;display:block;clear:both\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Hotel Deco<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Omaha, Nebraska<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tablethotels.com\/en\/omaha-hotels\/hotel-deco\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.tablethotels.com\/media\/ecs\/global\/magazine\/story-images\/041319\/HotelDeco.jpg\" alt=\"Hotel Deco - boutique hotel in Omaha\" width=\"970\" height=\"auto\" border=\"0\" data-gae=\"Magazine, Clicked, Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hotel Deco XV is, first of all, exactly what it sounds like: a rather monumental 1930s Art Deco building at Harney and South 15th Street \u2014 hence the XV \u2014 in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. But while the structure dates back nearly 90 years, what\u2019s inside is hardly a period piece. It was converted into a hotel in the 1980s and it\u2019s only by virtue of a fairly recent renovation that it is what it is today: Omaha\u2019s first luxury boutique hotel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\t<a id=\"thb-button-69eb9d0b3e702\" class=\"button medium   black\" href=\"\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double #ccc;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:60px;display:block;clear:both\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Claridge&#8217;s<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">London, England<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tablethotels.com\/en\/london-hotels\/claridges\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.tablethotels.com\/media\/ecs\/global\/magazine\/story-images\/041319\/Claridges.jpg\" alt=\"Claridge's - boutique hotel in the London\" width=\"970\" height=\"515\" border=\"0\" data-gae=\"Magazine, Clicked, Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We needed to include one bona fide, wall-to-wall Art Deco hotel on this list. And what better than Claridge\u2019s, London&#8217;s poshest hotel. Even today, this Mayfair landmark \u2014 where the crowned heads of Europe came to wait out the Second World War \u2014 remains splendidly and timelessly Art Deco. Stroll past the black awning into an entry foyer with Lalique vases, gilded columns, a sweeping staircase ornamented with brass banister that is polished daily. The elevators are manually operated \u2014 and each contains a sofa for lounging.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\t<a id=\"thb-button-69eb9d0b3e712\" class=\"button medium   black\" href=\"\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:1px;border-top:3px double
