Sometimes the best hotel amenities are the low-tech ones — like a gently swaying hammock beneath the shade of a palm tree. These are some of our favorite hotel hammocks, from Brazil to the Bahamas.

1.

Lodge at Pico Bonito, Honduras
Take a morning flight from a major American city and, by mid-afternoon, you could be enjoying a post-lunch siesta in one of Pico Bonito’s hammocks. Each of the cabins comes with one, suspended above a private deck that’s surrounded by four-hundred acres of wilderness on the Caribbean coast.

2.

Sofitel So Mauritius, Mauritius
A dip in the pool, a cocktail by the bluer-than-blue sea, a stroll on the warm white sand, and a snooze in one of the cushiest hammocks around — this is about as tough as life gets at the Sofitel So Mauritius, an exemplary tropical island hotel if ever we’ve seen one.

3.

Fazenda Sao Francisco do Corumbau, Brazil
Seeing as this ten-room resort is also a coconut farm, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the shade of a palm tree to sway under. And lazing in a hammock is just the right speed for taking in the nearly deserted Bahian beach at this low-key, solar-powered estate.

4.

La Reve Hotel, Mexico
With its postcard-perfect scenery, the Riviera Maya Maya has plenty of impressive hammocks — but the scene from the vantage point of a hammock at La Reve is about as pure as it gets, with nothing in view but white sand a wash of aquamarine beyond.

5.

Spoor62, Belgium
Beaches aren’t the only places for hammocks. Spoor62, a two-room converted train station in the countryside outside Bruges, has a well-padded hammock that easily rivals the dreaminess of the oceanside competition. It’s set beneath a stand of mossy trees in a quiet garden, with a sea of rolling fields just beyond.

6.

The Harmony Hotel, Costa Rica
Even the most basic rooms at the Harmony Hotel have big private patios with their own hammocks — perfect for a nap after an afternoon of surfing, practicing yoga or swimming in the beautiful (and chlorine-free) pool at this wellness-focussed resort.

7.

Pink Sands, Bahamas
Where the sand is pink, the hammocks are blue — at least in the case of this Bahamian hotel on far-flung Harbour Island. Pair your gentle swing in the breeze with one of the hotel’s tropical cocktails and settle in for the ride to Caribbean nirvana.
